Cockpit Country Interpretive Centre

The Interpretive Centre was constructed under an agreement between the Forestry Department and The Nature Conservancy (TNC), a US-based non-profit organization operating in Jamaica for the past 17 years. Dubbed as the gateway to the Cockpit Country, the Centre’s aim is to increase awareness and understanding of the environment and encourage protection and enhancement of the region.

Areas of Interest

The Cockpit Country is made up of several distinct communities, each of which offers a unique window onto Jamaican culture. Some of the main regions include, Accompong, Flagstaff, Windsor, Wait-A-Bit/Litchfield, and Sherwood Content. Many of these centers are located close to the Cockpit interior, while others can be reached via a 2-3 hour drive.
